monofilament thread

| I just bought some monofilament thread and know because it is so slippery and fine that there is a special way to thread the HQ16. Can you tell me how to do this? What speed would work best for quilting or should I use my stitch regulator. How about bobbin thread - would Bottom Line work best in the bobbin with monofilament thread? |

Don't have much to offer, other than encouragement. I use monofilament (MonoPoly) with Bottom Line or So Fine with no difference in threading. I do check tension, as with any other combination, but it's not been a problem. If you get breakage, consider going DOWN a needle size. That felt counter-intuitive to me until Mike Gilomen explained that the smaller needle causes less friction, so less heat, and less breakage because synthetic thread breakage can happen from melting! And it worked.

| Thanks for the info. I'll give it a try - the smaller needle is a good tip. |
