more on the twisting

OK, so I have been paying strict attention. I am doing overall feathers and the thread twists when I'm doing the actual feathers. If I stitch straight in the batting for a few seconds I get past the twisted, fraying part.

I have not used the Lava Thread but maybe I can help. You might try putting a thread net around the spool. This may help with some of the twisting. If you have one, you might try putting it on a horizontal spool holder.
You also can try going thru the pre-tensioner (the 3 hole thing) just once and then tighten the needle tension just a smidge. What size of needle are you using? The eye may be too small or too large for the thread. Lava thread was created by Superior for Gammill machine owners to use instead of the Rainbows thread. For some reason, the Rainbows threads would not run in the Gammill machines. I'm not saying that Lava can only be used by Gammill owners but this is why it was created. Also, give Superior a call and tell them what is happening. They may know the trick to making the thread work or be willing to swap it out with a thread of matching color for you. I hope I've been of help to you and keep us posted as to your progress. |
