No the table does not fold up. But it's quite reasonable - about 30 x 36. I love mine!
I had a similar experience with unable to find a dealer interested in selling the sit down model and no knowledge of it or wanting to try! Almost turned me off, but I pursued and found a very accommodating dealer in a different state!
Note on the table folding: the top folds down against the legs for storage. But the top itself doesn't fold.
Just received my new HQ16SD yesterday. The table is very sturdy and stable. The DVD that comes with the system is thorough. My mechanical aptitude is pretty limited, but this was easy. Yes, I struggled with the tension, and probably will again, but I can tell I'm going to love this machine.
