Machine Quilting with Templates: Creating Design Perfection

Have you discovered Craftsy yet? If you’re a machine quilter, you’ll definitely want to check out Kimmy Brunner’s new 11-part online class, “Machine Quilting with Templates: Creating Design Perfection”. After completing her Craftsy class, you’re certain to be creating impressive quilting designs using basic template shapes.

And guess what? If you haven’t taken the longarm quilting machine plunge, her techniques work just as well if you quilt on a domestic sewing machine.

We here at Handi Quilter were honored to host Kimmy and the Craftsy filming crew when they filmed her class. We provided an HQ18 Avanté machine for Kimmy to use during the class. So although Kimmy and her quilts are the stars of the class, the HQ18 Avanté is definitely the co-star!

The Craftsy class description points out that you’ll learn:

  • A variety of beautiful quilting block, border and filler designs using basic template shapes
  • To achieve perfect designs with your home machine, without math and with minimal marking
  • To use colored and specialty thread to make your quilts pop

Sounds like fun doesn’t it? And while it’s fun to go to retreats and onsite classes, taking an online class is not only super affordable, it also lets you learn at your own pace, whenever time allows — even in  your jammies.

You’ll see how Kimmy’s comfortable teaching style will give you the confidence to add these techniques to your machine quilting repertoire. It’s no wonder that Kimmy was named the Machine Quilting Teacher of the Year — not once, but twice!
