Regularly Maintain Your Sewing Machine

If you’re a longarm quilter, you’re used to regularly oiling your machine and changing the machine’s needle. But are you equally diligent with your domestic sewing machine?

To make sure you don’t fall behind in your machine’s preventative maintenance, wind five bobbins and when they are used up, change the needle, remove the sewing machine needle plate and clean out any lint and thread, and oil the machine (if it is one you can oil yourself; many newer machines don’t require this). Be sure to clean out the bobbin area with every bobbin change.
