HQ Studio Educators Vicki Hoth (left) and Marie Eldredge (right) recently helped out American Patchwork & Quilting Magazine by quilting Laura Boehnke’s version of the Wise Guy owl quilt designed by Holly Hickman.

We wanted to share more photos than you’ll find in the April 2013 issue of American Patchwork & Quilting magazine, page 83, because we think they did a fabulous job at quilting.

Marie is setting up HQ Pro-Stitcher to do some computerized quilting.

Close-up of the stitching on the owl’s eyes. Marie had Pro-Stitcher go over the quilting three times to make it really stand out.

Vicki chose a chevron design to represent feathers on the owl’s breast.

Another close-up of the quilt back.

Here’s the full quilt back. Gorgeous!
Great job Vicki and Marie!

Nicely done! Looks great, the quilting is balanced across the quilt so it will hang flat and not droop.
the back of the quilt is gorgeous. using solid back allowed quilting to shine through and look great!
Totally agree!
Awsome job! Was this done with the pro stitcher?
They used HQ Pro-Stitcher for doing the chevrons on the “breast” and the spirals on the eyes. The background was free-motion. The stitch in the ditch was aided by rulers. Not sure about the borders. I’m guessing Pro-Stitcher.
