Graphic Designer

Scheduled Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

This position reports to Marketing Communications Manager, Senior Graphic Designer, and other members of the marketing team at the Handi Quilter office in North Salt Lake, UT. No remote workers will be considered.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite Programs
  • Experience with WordPress or other related CMS
  • BA or BFA, preferably in visual design and/or a strong online design portfolio demonstrating your talents and interests
  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and willingness to get the job done as needed
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively
  • 1 – 2 years’ experience

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Represent the Handi Quilter brand effectively through typography, photography, design, and other digital and social media marketing, video production
  • Collaborate with various teams to develop solutions for both print and web
  • Participate in creative brainstorming and ideation sessions
  • Create beautiful and effective visual solutions that meet both business and user needs such as print material, social media assets, supplement our web presence and assist in photography and video projects
  • Manage and organize file assets and imagery
  • Attention to detail, ability to multitask, and manage time efficiently is essential

An added bonus, but not required:

  • Experience with quilting or background in the creative crafts industry

Software Engineer

Scheduled Hours: Full-Time, M – F, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Handi Quilter, the worldwide leader in longarm quilting machines and accessories has an immediate full-time Software Engineer position available. Job Duties:

  • Participate in the Design, Coding and unit testing of Software applications
  • Create UI experience for editing graphical objects with similar features in Adobe Illustrator
  • Work with Support and testing groups to resolve issues
  • Work with cross-functional team to develop products (Mechanical and Electrical Engineers)
  • Create project documentation
  • Support and implement product release plans
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve production issues
  • Assist in the development of user and technical manuals

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience with .NET (WPF, C#)
  • 2D Graphics experience
  • Multi-threaded applications
  • User interface coding and design
  • BS in Computer Science or Mathematics
  • 5+ years Software development experience.
  • Self-motivated
  • Adaptable, flexible, strong listening skills, problem solving skills, sense of urgency, organized, ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and meet deadlines
  • Excellent oral, interpersonal and written communication skills

Product Development Associate

Scheduled Hours: Full-Time, M – F, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

The Product Development Associate is responsible for assisting in research, development, and the launch of new products for Handi Quilter. This position reports to the Director of Product Development and Management. Occasional weekend, overtime, and travel required.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work with development, operations, and management teams to ensure development and delivery of products within allotted timeline and budget
  • Assist in development of new products and enhancement of existing products
  • Prepare and organize project status and risk reporting
  • Work closely with quality to improve current products and in development of new products
  • Identify and implement process improvements to achieve goals related to product development
  • Train teams on product knowledge as required
  • Work with Managers and marketing teams to ensure that products and services meet customers’ current and future needs
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Previous work experience in product development and/or project management
  • Experience in the quilting or needle arts industry preferred
  • Strong time management skills
  • Self-starter with a go-getter and can-do attitude
  • Good communication skills along with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross functional teams
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office, database experience

Junior Mechanical Engineer

Hours: Full-Time, M – F, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Handi Quilter, the worldwide leader in longarm quilting machines and accessories has an immediate, full-time Junior Mechanical Engineer position available. Handi Quilter is an innovative company that provides quilters with the highest quality products and service. We pride ourselves in having a great work environment. Duties include:

  • Assist in the design, development, and evaluation of new and existing products.
  • Detailed part design, hands-on prototype fabrication and product evaluation.
  • Participate in informal design reviews and provide feedback, using the appropriate tools i.e. FMEA and lab testing.
  • Develop and build prototypes and perform validation and life testing.
  • Create and develop engineering project documentation, i.e. bill of materials, and support the development of specifications.
  • Support and implement product release plans.
  • Work with domestic and overseas vendors to assure the manufacture of quality product.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve production issues.
  • Assist in the development of user manuals for the product.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • Applicable computer skills, to include Microsoft Office software
  • Experience using SolidWorks and PDM Works
  • Proven ability of working hands-on and multitasking
  • 0-5 years related experience
  • Self-motivated
  • Adaptable, flexible, strong listening skills, problem solving skills, sense of urgency, organized
  • Excellent oral, interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated creativity and innovation
  • Occasional travel, including overseas
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating machines for parts creation and modification
  • Understanding of injection molded parts design, sheet metal parts design and machine design a plus
  • Project Management and task planning

 


Truck Driver/Production

Scheduled Hours: Driving and working hours in compliance with DOT regulations

Production hours - Full-Time, M – F, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Requirements:

  • Current CDL license with appropriate endorsement for driving a 33,000 GVWR Truck
  • Current Medical Card
  • Annual Driving Record check
  • Two (2) years’ experience in driving a commercial vehicle
  • No USDOT or DOT violations within the past three (3) years
  • Understanding of DOT paperwork, log books, regulations, and documentation rules and drive time
  • Must have at least a class B CDL
  • Knowledge of truck maintenance and an understanding of diesel engines
  • Submit all required DOT paperwork on a timely basis to keep CDL current
  • Submit all expenses and receipts with an expense report on a timely basis
  • Knowledge of Outlook applications, basic computer, and smartphone operation with the ability to communicate effectively through electronic communication systems
  • Clean criminal record and background check required
  • Ability to travel throughout the US, lift 50 + pounds several times within a work day, climb a 10 ft. ladder

Job Duties:

  • Drive trucks to and from events and trade shows throughout the United States
  • Load and unload fixtures, supplies and products at events and shows
  • Assist with show booth and fixture construction, and product set-up and breakdown
  • Assist with classroom and product set-up and teardown, and machine repairs at the shows
  • Knowledge of proper load distribution, proper load tie-down, secure fixtures, machines, and product in truck for transport to next venue
  • Work with show and store management to facilitate the above duties as required
  • Event logistics
    • Assist in loading the truck, counting product, and other duties as assigned by the Administrative Assistant in preparing for shows and events
    • Proactively and effectively communicate with Administrative Assistant on travel and schedules
    • Ability to run a register system at shows and events
    • Build and/or repair show and event fixtures
    • Assist in ensuring proper maintenance of trucks
  • Work at Handi Quilter in Production as helper during times when driving is not required, as directed by Production Lead
  • Obtain knowledge of Handi Quilter products and professionally interact with customers answering entry level questions at shows and events
  • Other duties as assigned
