I have an HQ16. I changed my needle to start on a new quilt. I am using the same thread that I used on my last quilt and I had no problems with that one. This time my needle thread keeps shredding and then breaks. If I stop every minute and let it rest a little bit and continue on it does not break. Crazy huh?
The only think I have different is that I am using wool batting (100% cotton top and bottom) and I am using cotton thread. HELP.
I put in my old needle and it worked just fine. I looked at my new needles and they are much thicker. They were packaged wrong. I got them at the Wichita KS machine quilting expo two years ago. the Green boxes say 10 but the package has 18 circled. 18's are too big! What is the size to use for cotton fabric? I don't want to take my old one out until I am done since it is working now!
