Sweet 16 vs. HQ 16
  • I have been free motion quilting for awhile now and am confident in my skills. I went to see a demo of the Sweet 16 and like the concept of the sit down situation. I do not feel that I need a machine with the true stitch regulator. Truth be know I would refer to purchase a gently used machine instead of spending $5,000 for a new one. Cannot find anyone in the Houston, Texas area who has one for sale.

I did recently talk to a dealer in the area who is helping sell a HQ16 sit down machine for a lady whose mother was the original owner. The machine is 18 months old and has hardly been used. The mother passed away and never really used the machine.

I have done some research and know this machine cannot be upgraded with stitch regulator. I also know this machine does not have to be oiled because of the closed casing. Also, it has an Ott light and the computer is at the back of the machine.

The lady is asking $3500. I can purchase a new machine for $4200 plus tax. I have offered her $3000 for the machine.

I have heard pros and cons on the new machine with issues that people are having. Also, people with the older HQ16 seem to feel this machine is better than the new HQ sweet 16.

    Can you offer any advise?
