Thread breaking/shreds
  • My thread keep breaking/shreds when I go from right to left. I have a Avante.
  • Dear Peppermint,
I am sorry that your thread is breaking and shredding when you quilt right to left.
When one stitches right to left in a straight or serpentine line, there is a higher chance of this happening.
It is because of the relationships of the hook, needle and thread. When you are stitching an edge to edge, it is better because one is going up, down, back and forward. I hope this helps.

    Good Luck,

  • While I understand there is a greater chance for shredding when going right to left, is there a solution to prevent this from happening?
  • Dragonfly57,

Sometimes if you slow down it will help. Also, going short distances at a time can help. However, it is still best to go from left to right.

    Good luck,

  • For me the solution was to rotate my needle from the "6 o'clock" position to about "5:30" and it stopped my shredding/breaking problems.
