I have one customer that makes some of the most beautiful quilts. But I will admit her quilts are always quite a challenge for me. She will machine AND hand piece the same quilt. She will machine piece for a while but when she gets tired of that she will take that same quilt and hand piece on it for a while. On this particular quilt, I had advanced the quilt and heard kind of a "popping" sound. I couldn't see what caused the sound so figured it must have come from the television. As I was quilting I soon found the source of the popping sound. The thread used for hand piecing BROKE in several places all across the quilt. It took me just over 2 hours to get that hand sewn back together. I immediately ordered several spools of hand quilting thread. I really don't fault the gal after all I hope I'm that spry IF I ever hit 80! When I returned the quilt to her I took her a "little gift". When I returned her quilt I said, "I have all these spools of hand quilting thread that I know I'll never use so I thought I'd bring them to you." She was absolutely delighted. By the way, with the exception of the white background fabric all of the fabrics used in this quilt I had given her as scraps from quilts I had made. WHAT A WAY TO RECYCLE!
Just goes to show you that WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND.
