Missing In Action
Where have I been? Not blogging, obviously. I have learned that blogging takes a whole lot of time away from quilting. Also, there was one week in February that I just could not look at a quilt. I never thought that would happen!
Then, I got on the ball finally, I hurried and finished a quilt for Jackie by Feb 28th. Jackie was Michelle Bancroft's best friend who did so much for Michelle and Justin during Michelle's illness. Jackie lives in the same neighborhood and goes to the same church. She had everything organized while Michelle was ill so that friends and neighbors would bring meals and help take care of the kids. Jackie spoke at Michelle's funeral. It was the first and only time I had seen Jackie until Feb 28th when Adele and Justin and I went to see her.
Justin told Jackie we were coming but had not told her why. Jackie had a recent collar bone surgery that had not healed well, and she had a follow up surgery a few days before we went to see her. She was of course surprised to see the quilt with Michelle's message. It inevitably brought all of us to tears to hear her say that she had had a rough time of late and that this gift from Michelle came to her at just the right time.
I had rushed so much with Jackie's quilt that I still had pencil marks on the quilt - sorry Jackie, you will have to wash it. I was actually finishing the quilt on the way from SLC to Saratoga Springs, while Adele drove. I also did not get a great picture of the quilt - see below - or one of Jackie and her wonderful family. I will have to ask her to send me one, and then I will update photos.

Okay, break is over at work. Hope to have more later - next time I can blog.

Thanks for your comment, Ann. I free handed the center part of the quilt, and it was so fun! I still hope to get a better picture of this quilt one day from Jackie, the lighting in the picture above don't do the colors justice. Thanks for keeping tabs on my blog; I need to be better at keeping it updated. :)by Masuda on 02 May 2010 at 10:16 a.m.

Hi, Masuda... I thought I'd catch up with your blog, and I have to say...this is my favorite quilt so far. I love the colors and the quilting itself is amazing. Good luck with your future work...I can't wait to see your next creations! PS...the Boys n Girls Club quilt was great, too!by Ann on 24 April 2010 at 8:45 a.m.

Dear Jackie, Thank you so much for your kind note. It's been a real touching and spiritual experience for me to be able to deliver Michelle's quilts to all her loved ones. I am so glad she thought it was a good idea, and that she was well enough to write those messages. It's been a real honor for me. I am very happy to get to know you as well - I can see why you and Michelle were close. You are a sweetheart! My email is anitagreen45@yahoo.com. Thank you for sending me your photos.by Masuda on 14 March 2010 at 11:37 p.m.
