Tension problems
I have a HQ 16, which is about 8 years old. It has been to the shop many times of which the last visit was over a year ago and was for bent drive shaft.
I am trying to do free motion quilting on it and am encountering eyelashes on the back of the quilt. I know that this means the bobbin tension needs to be made looser which I have done and the top tension needs to be tighter. I currently have the bobbin very loose and the top tension as tight as it will go and am still getting eyelashes.
I attempted to use the machine when it first came back from the shop but I could not get it to quilt correctly so gave up on it. My daughter is here now and has spent over 10 hours attempting to make it quilt properly as well but to no avail. She has tried everything possible to get it to work. She has done all the tension things suggested in the videos and forums. She has also tried many things besides the tensions -speed of machine, speed of moving the machine. She has cleaned and oiled everything possible.
With the bobbin as loose as it can be (thread feeds through easy and still barely picks up the bobbin case) and the top tension as tight as it will go, she and I are at a stumbling block on what else could possibly be wrong.
Any help on this is greatly appreciated.
Betty
