My Hawkeye Quilt

Posted: 20 October 2011 at 6 p.m.

I have finally decided to start posting some of my quilts for people to see.

My most recent quilt is an Iowa Hawkeye quilt. It is perfect for showing your team spirit. I also made two pillow cases to match.

This is a paperpieced design from a pattern from Judy Niemeyer's Waterfalls collection. I just changed the color scheme to a simple black/yellow and it really worked well for collegiate themed quilt. Sometimes I don't like 'team' quilts because they get so busy will all of cheesy prints. Using only two colors and then only a few blocks with the team logo prints I really think gives this quilt a unique visual appeal.

The back is solid black and all of the quilted stitches are black. Completed with freeform free-motion quilting this is a one of kind.

There are about 365,000 quilted stitches in this quilt.

On the pillow cases I used a french seam so the insides look as good as the outside does.

Tell me what you think?
