FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Handi Quilter is a Presenting Sponsor of American Patchwork Quilting's National Quilt Pink Day 2007
SALT LAKE CITY, UT - January 3, 2006 - Handi Quilter, Utah-based leading manufacturer and marketer of mid-arm quilting machines, portable frames, and tables for the home quilting enthusiast, has been chosen to be one of the presenting sponsors for the 2007 Quilt Pink Day, a unique and nationally recognized breast cancer awareness quilting event founded by American Patchwork Quilting magazine with proceeds benefiting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Quilt Pink Day is a national event held in September to raise money for breast cancer research. Over 1,000 quilt shops and quilters across the country donate pink quilts for an online auction with the proceeds going to the fight against breast cancer.
"It is an honor and opportunity to be part of an event that is helping a nationally recognized cause," said Mark Hyland, President of Handi Quilter. "We look forward to working with American Patchwork Quilting magazine in making Quilt Pink a huge success in 2007 bringing in thousands of dollars toward breast cancer research and awareness. Because our company is a leader of the quilting industry that is constantly growing, we wanted to be a part of this admirable cause."
Although Quilt Pink Day isn't until September, Handi Quilter plans on building up the Quilt Pink brand as part of its overall promotional goals throughout 2007. As a presenting sponsor, Handi Quilter will be heavily involved in hundreds of quilt shows across the country and will coordinate special events throughout the year as part of Breast Cancer awareness. Handi Quilter will work in conjunction with many quilt shops that carry the HQ Sixteen™ and Simply Sixteen™ quilting machines to help advertise these events.
As part of Quilt Pink Day, Handi Quilter educators will design and make a pink and white quilt. Those who wish to contribute to breast cancer awareness, can go to participating quilt shops on September 30, 2007, and make a pink and white quilt block. These blocks will be finished into quilts and will be sent along with the Handi Quilter-designed quilt to the American Patchwork Quilting magazine for an online auction in Spring 2008.
"This is a great opportunity for so many people across the nation to come together and really make a difference," said Hyland. "We look forward to working with such a prominent organization that has found a creative way to fight against breast cancer, and know that with our help and the help of other sponsors, we can help win this battle."
