Optional Activities

We have a few optional, extra-curricular activities you may want to add to your Handi Quilter’s Academy experience.

Mini Shop Hop $49 per person
Thursday, May 29, 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM

If you aren’t able to take advantage of the full shop hop on Saturday afternoon, this mini shop hop will take you to two popular SLC quilt shops. We’ll depart Snowbird at about 5:30 PM, where you’ll also receive a boxed sandwich dinner to go. First stop will be Elaine’s Quilt Block (featured in 2011 Fall/Winter BH&G Quilt Sampler magazine) for about an hour. Our final stop will be Quilt’s Etc. (perhaps Utah’s largest quilt shop) for about an hour. Then it’s back to Snowbird.

We’ll depart Snowbird and experience a scenic drive to downtown Salt Lake City, where we’ll enjoy a catered dinner at the Lion House, the historic home of Brigham Young. After dinner, you are free to shop the City Creek Center, listen to the free rehearsal of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, or simply wander the downtown sites such as Temple Square. We’ll depart for Snowbird at about 9:45 PM.

Premier Shop Hop $85 per person
Saturday, May 31, 1:00 PM to 9:15 PM

Are you ready for some serious fabric shopping? Then plan to join us for a visit to four popular quilt shops in SLC. We’ll depart Snowbird with box lunch in hand and head out for a great shopping adventure, where we’ll be able to spend an hour at each quilt shop.

Pine Needles (featured in 2010 Fall/Winter BH&G Quilt Sampler Magazine)

We end our shop hop at Pine Needles, located at the historic Gardner Village, and allow time to visit more than 20 quaint shops. We’ll then have a pleasant dinner at 7:00 PM before returning to Snowbird.

 Archibald's Restaurant

Our meal will be in the Mural Room, located in the 32-foot concrete silo built in 1905. There is no elevator so you will need to be able to climb about 30 stairs.
