Before Loading the Quilt Top

Before loading the quilt top, analyze the overall theme of the quilt and decide what quilting designs are most appropriate. A flower design on a cowboy quilt would not be as complementary as stars and loops. Place preview paper or clear cellophane on the quilt to decide what design would complement the quilt. Use a dry erase marker or water erase marker on the preview paper to draw the designs. Be careful not to write on the quilt.
